Chapter 1: The Early Days at Tinker Education
BLTS began as an in-house project at Tinker Education, a pioneer in tech education in Kenya. Founded in 2016, Tinker Education set out to bridge the gap in tech literacy among young learners by offering innovative programs that were rarely available in the local landscape at the time.
From Scratch programming to basic robotics using tools like Microbit, LittleBits, and Arduino, Tinker Education introduced children to the world of computer science and physical computing. The goal was simple yet ambitious: to equip young minds with the skills they needed to succeed in the digital age.
Over three years, Tinker Education amassed valuable data about the local tech education landscape. The Kenyan market responded enthusiastically, with parents and educators recognizing the importance of early exposure to technology. This success was further amplified when the Kenyan government began integrating coding into mainstream education—a move that Tinker Education had championed from the start.
Chapter 2: The Need for Adaptation
As the tech education landscape evolved, so did the needs of our learners. The rapid pace of technological advancements demanded a more comprehensive and adaptive approach to teaching.
At Tinker Education, we realized that to truly prepare children for the future, we needed to go beyond the basics. We needed to dive deeper into software engineering, physical computing, and robotics, while staying ahead of emerging trends like AI, machine learning, and IoT.
This realization marked the beginning of Bolder Learner Tech School.
Chapter 3: The Birth of BLTS
In the second half of 2024, after years of research, testing, and adaptation, we officially launched Bolder Learner Tech School as a standalone business. BLTS was founded on a wealth of data and experience, ensuring that our programs were not only relevant but also transformative.
Our mission at BLTS is clear: to empower young learners with 21st-century skills while keeping pace with the fast-changing world of technology. We achieve this by offering:
